No-Sew DIY Lap Cat Bed

Does your feline friend love to cuddle in your lap when you work from home, read a book, or watch TV? Creating a DIY lap bed is a budget-friendly way to provide your kitty with a cozy spot to snuggle up on when you’re busy or not at home.

Materials needed:

  • Old pair of pants
  • 1 Bag of stuffing
  • Glue gun and hot glue
  • Small pillow or foam (optional)

Step-By-Step Guide:

  1. Find an old pair of pants to repurpose
  1. Fill each leg evenly with stuffing. Be sure to pack in a lot of stuffing so they hold their shape.
  1. Stuff the crotch and waist area while leaving 1-2 inches at the waist band to glue shut later. Instead of filling this area with stuffing, you can also fill it with a piece of foam or a small pillow so no glue is required in the waist area.
  1. Move the legs so they’re in a criss-cross shape for maximum comfort. You can also keep them straight – whichever your furry friend prefers.
  1. Use the glue gun to secure the waist and bottoms of the legs shut.
  1. Encourage your kitty to try out their lap bed. You may need to entice them with treats or toys initially.

Safety tips:

  • Be sure to keep your kitty at a distance when you’re using the glue gun as the glue gets very hot.
  • Ensure the zipper of the pants is tucked away so it doesn’t get caught in your kitty’s fur.

With only a little effort and supplies, you can provide your furry friend with a lap they can always keep warm, at least until yours is available again!
